Pamoja’s courses are mainly asynchronous and designed for students to work independently. Pamoja teachers guide student progress through high-quality feedback, regular communication, and targeted clarification when needed.
Students may request 1:1 sessions with their Pamoja teachers, but these are intended as occasional academic check-ins, not as recurring tutoring or weekly lessons. The Pamoja teacher will hold a 1:1 session when a specific academic need arises.
1:1 sessions are short, focused meetings used to:
- clarify specific questions
- address misunderstandings
- Support students who are struggling
Students may request these sessions periodically, typically every few weeks, depending on teacher availability and workload.
Before Requesting a 1:1
To make the best use of teacher time and ensure the session is productive, students must:
- Complete the relevant lessons, and
- Attempt the assigned work before a 1:1 can be scheduled.
Teachers may decline or postpone a 1:1 request if the students have not engaged with the material, as the session would not be beneficial.
How to Request a 1:1
Students simply contact their teacher and suggest 2–3 possible times in GMT. The teacher will offer the closest available option.
Best Use of 1:1s
1:1 sessions are especially helpful for:
- preparation for oral assessments
- clarification on specific feedback
- guidance on key skills
- support when a student is struggling
Cancellations
Students should provide at least 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a session.
If a student does not attend a scheduled 1:1 session twice without notice, further 1:1 sessions may not be offered.
SSST Courses
As the structure of our School-Supported Self-Taught (SSST) Language A: Literature courses are different from our other Pamoja courses, this 1:1 Support Policy does not apply to SSST.
