In order to ensure we keep student data safe & comply with the new GDPR legislation, Pamoja is ensuring all student data is stored in centrally managed systems, one of these is Microsoft Office 365. To securely access shared folders in Pamoja’s Office 365, which are used for any large files, students must have a Microsoft account.
What is a Microsoft account?
A Microsoft account is used to access many Microsoft devices and services. It’s the account that you use to sign in to Skype, Outlook.com, OneDrive, Windows Phone, and Xbox Live. Student may already have a Microsoft account, which they have used to previously to access one or more Microsoft services, or which has been created by their school using Microsoft Office 365, in which case they can continue to use this.
Important: A Microsoft account is similar to an account with a service such as Amazon or Netflix, it doesn’t require that you have a Microsoft email address (such as one ending in @hotmail.com or @outlook.com). The associated email address could be from another email service such as Gmail, iCloud or Yahoo!
How to create a Microsoft Account
If a student doesn’t have a free account one can be created at: https://signup.live.com
They then need to complete the five following short steps:
Enter the email address you want to be associated with the account
You can and should use a personal email address for this such as Yahoo/Outlook/Gmail. If using a school email address, you may experience access issues, as this is not what a Microsoft account works best with.
Create a secure password for your new account – please ensure this is different to the password you use for your email or any other web services.
Enter your country and date of birth
Microsoft will then send a PIN code to the email address you entered in step 1, this is to ensure that you own the email address. Enter this on the page shown below.
The account will then be set up and you should share the email address for this account with your teacher.

You can reset your password for your Microsoft Account here at any time:
